Expanding Vision Care with Precision Manufacturing
Alcon Vision LLC, a global leader in eye care innovation, continues to expand its capabilities to meet growing demand for advanced vision solutions. To support this mission, the company needed to increase production capacity at its Johns Creek, Georgia, facility by adding a new manufacturing line to its existing DSM production suite.
The Alcon DSM Line 7 Expansion transformed 12,200 SF of space within an active pharmaceutical manufacturing environment into a highly specialized cleanroom designed for contact lens production. The project scope included the construction of a new process trench, the addition of a PMAA blend tank room, the relocation of an autoclave, and architectural upgrades such as epoxy and raised access flooring. Comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and instrumentation upgrades were also integrated to support the new manufacturing line.
A critical challenge was maintaining uninterrupted operations while working adjacent to validated cleanroom environments. Through careful planning, phased construction, and close coordination with stakeholders, the project team successfully delivered a facility that meets all cGMP and FDA standards while aligning with Alcon’s stringent validation and turnover requirements.
The result is a high-performance manufacturing suite that enhances operational efficiency, supports future innovation, and reinforces Alcon’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge vision care products to patients worldwide.
